Working with grids

Why grids?

Grids are prevalent in many of the forms in Visual OMP to assist users with import and export as well as batch running.  By using grids, information is easily imported from other standard formats as well as from databases and spreadsheets.  Grids allow for quick transfer of large amounts of data and subsequent batch simulation.  These two factors alone empower users to import, export, analyze more easily while at the same time allowing for complex simulations to be designed and run.

Cutting, copying and pasting single cells or sequences in grids

When cutting, copying and pasting using grids, it is easiest to use the context menu.  A context menu is accessible from any grid by right clicking on the grid.  For example, in the Sequences Tab (for input), right clicking will enable a user to cut, copy and paste by row or by cell.  When cutting, copying and pasting single cells or sequences, click on the location, and use the context menu to paste a single cell.

Cutting, copying and pasting directly from an internet FASTA file

When cutting, copying and pasting directly from a FASTA file, you can either right click on the destination cell and choose paste cells or use the sequence viewer.   To enable the sequence viewer, click on the sequence of choice in the Sequences Tab (input form) and click on the grey square on the right-hand side, this will create and take you to the sequence view tab of this sequence.

In the sequence field at the bottom of the sequence viewer it is possible to directly paste FASTA sequences (numbers included) and Visual OMP automatically filters out all the non-essential characters.
