File Formats

The following file formats are used in Visual OMP: .oef, .oof, .odf, .osf, .opf, .obr, .nal, .tbs.   For more in formation on these files, please see File Formats.  

Fixed Probe

A fixed probe indicates a probe that is physically fixed to a surface, like in certain microarrays.   If Fixed Probe is chosen as the function of a sequence on the sequences tab, interactions between multiple fixed probes are excluded.   Fixed Probes can also be designed on the Probe/Primer Design Tab.   When this design type is chosen, Visual OMP will not check for crosshybridization between different fixed probes, because this is not necessary and will speed up the design process.
