Effective dG
Unlike the normal dG, the effective dG is the energy at which 50% of the limiting species is bound given all species and intermediates. For example, if a sequence exists as a heterodimer within a pool of 10 other sequences, then the effective dG of the heterodimer is the energy at which half of the limiting species is bound in the heterodimer given all other mishybridizations, crosshybridizations, species and reactions.
Effective Tm
Unlike the normal Tm (melting temperature) the effective Tm is the temperature at which 50% of the limiting species is bound given all species and intermediates. For example, if a sequence exists as a heterodimer within a pool of 10 other sequences, then the effective Tm of the heterodimer is the temperature at which half of the limiting species is bound in the heterodimer given all other mishybridizations, crosshybridizations, species and reactions.
