A

Allele Specific PCR

A type of PCR in which 3 primers are used to both amplify and discriminate between 2 alleles. 2 allele specific primers will be used: 1 that binds the wild type allele and one that binds the mutant allele. The third primer functions as the opposite primer for the other 2 primers to form primer pairs with them.

Accession Number

A unique number used to identify sequences contained in databases at for example the NCBI website.
