The main form for Visual OMP has been designed to emulate the efficient layout of a generic Windows application for ease of use . The five basic components that make up the main form are the menu, toolbar, project explorer, work area, and status area. Each of these areas has been highlighted below. Color coded descriptions of each section are located at the bottom of the page.

Menu System
All of Visual OMP's functionality may be accessed through the menu system. The main focus of the menu from the left to the right are: Project information, visual preferences, data analysis, visual analysis, Visual OMP options, this help file and formatting and organization of current forms. For more detailed information, please visit the menu system page.
Main Toolbar
The main toolbar is a set of easily identifiable buttons that serve as shortcuts to commonly used tasks found in the menu system. Briefly holding the mouse icon over each button will reveal the underlying function. Descriptions may also be found on the toolbar page.
Project Explorer
The Project Explorer allows the user to view the "big picture" of the project. The tree structure of the explorer is meant to easily show all current experiments, along with deeper links to input and output data. For more information, please see the Project Explorer page.
Main Work Area
Although the main work area is blank at start up, it may be considered the "blackboard" of Visual OMP. This is where all input, output, visualization, and graph forms are handled.
Status Area
The status area keeps track of all minimized forms that are open. Also, during simulation, the status bar uses a progress bar to let a user know the estimated length of the current simulation.
